Scenario
Following the events of The Batman (2022), Oz Cobb, aka The Penguin, plays a game to take over the reins of Gotham’s criminal underworld. Colin Farrell fought hard to have his version of the Penguin in The Batman (2022) but failed. However, for his own series, the character is portrayed as a casual tobacco user who prefers cigars. The DC Studios logo is set in a rainy alley in Gotham.
An umbrella falls and the logo changes to the Warner Bros
logo. Featured in Graham Norton and others: Lady Gaga/Demi Moore/Colin Farrell/Richard Ayoade/Jack Savoretti (2024). Batman, for my taste, easily had the best portrayal of Gotham on film. The environment was disgustingly wet and visually everything you’d want to see.
This series fully accelerates these aspects and follows the film perfectly
A big part of that was his underworld, where Oswald, aka Penguin, was starting to take over. I can’t say enough about Colin Farrell’s performance in this and it honestly might be his masterpiece. The guy gives the character his hardest and Guttery feels what he can and it’s so well done it resonates. Even without Batman, his plots are so strong you don’t even notice.
I can overlook that though
The rest of the supporting characters are pretty well done, even if some of the casting choices seem a bit off to some. This series continues to perfectly build this Batman universe and I can’t wait to see where they go from here. One of the best series of the last decade. Give Colin Farrell all the credit he deserves for this role.
